National Chemistry Week
at
Langara College, Vancouver, BC

1.  Students in the introductory chem courses (Chem 1114) constructed a giant periodic table by preparing 8.5 x 11 sheets of paper with information and pictures about individual elements and relevant information.

2.  Chemistry Magic Show - featuring Dr. Zorg (Andrew Mosi assisted by Kelly Sveinson and Patricia Auroca-Oulette)

A multitude of exciting chemical demonstrations were performed: thermite inside a pumpkin, NH4Cl/NH4NO3/Zn fire fountain, H2 balloons, methane soap bubbles, burning money, gun cotton, "magic painting", traffic light reaction (given as turning white wine into red wine then into green apple juice), making brownies (sugar / sulfuric acid) and finished off with liquid nitrogen ice cream.
