RESULTS OF THE 2005
CANADA-WIDE CRYSTAL GROWING COMPETITION

CANADA-WIDE

This was another outstanding year featuring close competition:
  • From 33 mgrams to 56 grams, crystals came from all over the country from 13 different places.

We should be proud of the accomplishments of our students as some of the judges said (amazing).

You will find below three tables listing each the school, students' names, mass, quality, score and ranking for the crystals grouped in three categories : Best Quality, Best Overall and from Teachers.

I want to send my warmest congratulations to all who participated across Canada and I hope this competition was an occasion to discover some of the greatness of the nature around us.

A special thank you to :

  • Anachemia Science or providing the copper sulfate used in the contest,
  • BASF for providing the prizes,
  • the many teachers who supervised their students and give a lot of their own time,
  • the Chemical Institute of Canada volunteers who coordinated the contest in their local area,
  • the panel of 8 judges who volunteered to evaluate the crystals at York University.
